Hey legends, I am Leila. I am 32, I am French and I live in Melbourne, Australia. After playing field hockey for a few years, I have recently become a “hockey” player. Isn’t that the same thing? Well, in this part of the world, it is, but anywhere else it is known as the “real” hockey, the one and only… ice hockey.
I have now been playing for over a year and I have played my first season in division 5 so very much a newbie but I have always loved the game and love it even more now that I play it.
In the last 18 months, hockey has brought me so much. Amazing friends, great challenges and has introduced me to this fantastic family that is the ice hockey community. (It may have also slightly drained my bank account…) But I love the sport, the people who play the sport and I can’t get enough of it.
So that leads me to my next (…only) point, we are so lucky to have access to so many resources about the sport but I didn’t think that women were well represented out there so I decided to create a space for the “women of ice hockey”. We will talk about how it is to start the sport (whether you are 5 or 50), the impact it makes in our lives and interview the women who have made it to the top.
I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for joining me!
Leila 😉
